Social Skills Group
The Triumph Center offers social skills groups for children, adolescents, and young adults to enhance their emotional and social development. Our social skills program is based on the belief that a child’s emotional, physical, and social development can be enhanced through cooperative, non-competitive play. We can simulate familiar play situations while providing structure and support to guide and coach children through their interactions. In essence, we slow down the social scene for kids and teach them how to form relationships with skill and confidence.
With evidence-based interventions, we help children enter and sustain participation in play situations. Our counselors use structured learning, practice, and modeling to enhance social skills such as sharing, turn-taking, flexible problem solving and good sportsmanship. Overall, we provide an environment that feels safe and allows children to take appropriate social risks.
The groups are tailored to age, developmental level, social skills abilities, interests, and behavioral styles, with co-led sessions involving various activities and discussions. These groups benefit a diverse range of participants and serve a wide range of children, adolescents and young adults ages 6 – 29. While our groups and their goals are quite diverse, some of the members have diagnoses such as ADHD, Anxiety Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder, Executive Functioning Disorder, and Non-verbal Learning Disorder.
Social skills groups at the Triumph Center run throughout the year. Applications are being accepted now for potential openings across all age groups.
