Training
The Triumph Center is dedicated to training emerging professionals dedicated to the important work of supporting children, teens, young adults and families. We offer training and experiential opportunities to undergraduate students, graduate students and post-graduate professionals.
The Triumph Center’s clinical training program is directed by Dr. Chris Anderson.
Undergraduate Training Experience
(Dates of Training: Late June to Mid-August)
Students majoring in psychology, social work, education and related fields are provided the opportunity to work as counselors in our therapeutic summer camp, Camp Triumph. As counselors, students gain experience working with children who have a variety of diagnostic profiles including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, Anxiety disorders and other childhood disorders. Camp Triumph runs for 8 weeks (late June – Mid August) and counselors gain over 240 hours of experience including direct work with children, communication with parents/caregivers and clinical report writing. All counselors receive supervision from a licensed clinician as they learn evidenced based behavioral strategies to support campers aged 6 – 16.
Masters Level Internships
(Dates of Training: September through June)
Our intensive masters level training program provides clinical experience and supervision for students in mental health counseling and social work programs. Recent trainees have come from Boston College, Boston University, Lesley College and Fisher College. Trainees are provided experience in individual counseling and group counseling under the supervision of masters and doctoral level professionals.
Pre-Doctoral Training
(practicum & advanced practicum)
(Dates of Training: September through June)
Our pre-doctoral level training program provides supervised clinical experience for students in clinical, counseling and school psychology programs (Psy.D., Ph.D.). Trainees are provided experience in individual counseling, group counseling and psychological evaluations. Individual supervision is provided by licensed clinical psychologists.
Post-Doctoral Training
(Dates of Training: September through August)
The Triumph Center offers post-doctoral training experiences for graduates of clinical psychology and school psychology looking to specialize in work with children, teens, young adults and families with a wide variety of challenges. Post-doctoral trainees work closely with Triumph Center staff in all aspects of our clinical programs and are involved in weekly planning meetings related to the running of the business. Recent post-doctoral trainees have come from William James College and the University of Massachusetts – Amherst.
Application Process
Undergraduate students interested in working at Camp Triumph should send a cover letter, resume and 3 letters of recommendation to Dr. Emily Barry at triumphcenter@verizon.net. Applications will be reviewed starting January 1st.
Prospective masters, doctoral and post-doctoral trainees should send a cover letter, resume and 3 letters of recommendation to Dr. Anderson at triumphcenter@verizon.net. Applications will be reviewed starting December 1st for the following September start date.
